Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine has a unique style that blends R&B with gospel, soul music and R&B. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway through the Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine is Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta but her origins are located in Chester Pennsylvania. There she was the first to begin pursuing an interest in music, as a singer and pianist at the church. After attending Spellman College, Atlanta she started her journey in music on Atlanta's R&B culture. The first song to feature her voice was called Stalk You, a Japanese house 12 track. Since then, it was remixed and has become a component of her set. Her voice was also added to the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005 she took on the role of the drummer in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as Choral Director of Dreamgirls which was a stage production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform during President Obama's 2009 inauguration.
